VisitCNN Reveals Torture Horrors in Assad's Secret Prison: 35 Bodies Found
Dec 12, 2024, 11:55 AM
In the aftermath of the fall of the Assad regime, horrific details of the torture endured by prisoners in Syria's notorious Sednaya prison have come to light. International media outlets, including CNN, have entered the prison, revealing the extent of the atrocities committed. Clarissa Ward of CNN discovered a man, Adil Hurbal, who had been imprisoned for three months in a secret cell in Damascus, unaware that the regime had collapsed. The prison, operational since 1986, has been described as a 'human slaughterhouse' where thousands of political prisoners were tortured and executed. Dr. Muhammed Najem, a Syrian doctor at Damascus Hospital, provided chilling testimonies of the torture he witnessed, including severe beatings, removal of fingernails and eyes, and burn marks on the bodies of 35 deceased prisoners found at Saydnaya prison. The Syrian Network for Human Rights estimates that over 100,000 detainees and forcibly disappeared persons remain unaccounted for, with many believed to have been killed under torture.
