Clearview AI has been fined €30.5 million ($33.7 million) by the Dutch Data Protection Authority on Tuesday for creating an illegal facial recognition database containing billions of photos. The fine, equivalent to £25.6 million, is the largest GDPR penalty imposed on the American company to date. Dutch authorities have criticized Clearview AI for what they describe as a 'massive' breach of rights.
