Clash in Abuja: Police, Shi'ites Conflict at Arba'een Trek Leaves Multiple Dead

A violent clash between the Nigerian police and the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, also known as Shi'ites, occurred in Abuja during the Arba'een Symbolic Trek. The confrontation resulted in the deaths of two police officers and a trader, with three officers injured. The police used teargas and live ammunition to disperse the procession, which they alleged was attacked by the Shi'ites using knives and explosives. The Shi'ites accused the police of targeting their peaceful march, leading to multiple injuries and fatalities. Patrol vehicles were also reported burnt during the incident.
