VisitCircle Issues MiCA-Compliant USDC and EURC in EU
Jul 1, 2024, 03:09 PM
Circle, a prominent crypto firm, has become the first global stablecoin issuer to achieve compliance with the European Union's new Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulations. This milestone allows Circle to issue USDC and EURC as MiCA-compliant e-money tokens within the European Economic Area (EEA). The approval was granted by French regulators, marking a significant step forward for the crypto ecosystem in Europe. Circle's USDC and EURC are now legally recognized as mediums of exchange in the EU, and the stablecoins will continue to be available on platforms like Binance for EEA users. Additionally, 58,961,871 USDC (59,020,833 USD) was minted at the USDC Treasury. The new regulations took effect on July 1st.
