Federal prosecutors have charged a CIA official, Asif W. Rahman, with leaking classified documents that appeared to show Israel's plans to retaliate against Iran for a missile attack earlier this year. Rahman allegedly accessed the classified document on October 17 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he worked overseas for the CIA with top-secret security clearance. He was indicted last week in federal court in Virginia on two counts of willful retention and transmission of national defense information under the Espionage Act. The leaked documents reportedly revealed Israel's military preparations for a potential strike against Iran and circulated on Telegram channels linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Rahman was arrested by the FBI on Tuesday in Cambodia and brought to a federal court in Guam to face charges. He is due to make his first court appearance, and the Justice Department's charges were unsealed on Wednesday.
