VisitCIA Director Burns Tells CNBC No Evidence Iran Is Rushing to Build Nuclear Weapons
Oct 8, 2024, 05:20 AM
CIA Director William Burns, in an interview with CNBC, stated that the U.S. intelligence community has no evidence that Iran has decided to rush toward building a nuclear weapon. Burns noted that since Iran's supreme leader decided in 2003 to suspend the weaponization program, there has been no reversal of that decision. He also indicated that if Iran did decide to pursue a nuclear weapon, the U.S. and its allies would likely detect such a move soon after it was taken.
