VisitChristian McCaffrey Signs $38M Two-Year Extension with 49ers, Becomes Highest-Paid RB Through 2027
Jun 4, 2024, 05:29 PM
Christian McCaffrey, the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, has signed a two-year extension with the San Francisco 49ers, averaging $19 million per year. The deal, worth $38 million, includes an additional $8 million over what he was scheduled to make and puts him under contract through 2027. This extension makes McCaffrey the highest-paid running back in the NFL and resets the running back market. The 49ers' thinking behind the deal is to ensure wide receivers do not make significantly more than McCaffrey. The contract also includes $24 million in guarantees. McCaffrey has been a standout player for the 49ers, amassing 2,711 rushing yards, 1,241 receiving yards, and 39 touchdowns in 22 games since joining the team. The 27-year-old has earned $65.6 million in his seven-year career, ranking fourth in earnings among running backs.
