China Sees 14.64 Million Foreign Visitors as Numbers Triple Due to Visa-Free Policy

China has seen a significant surge in foreign visitors during the first half of 2024, with a recorded 14.64 million inbound trips by foreigners. This increase is largely attributed to Beijing’s new visa-free travel policy, which accounted for over 8.54 million of these entries. The policy has made cross-border travel simpler and more enjoyable for foreign friends, according to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning. The tourism boom, which saw visitor numbers nearly triple, is expected to provide substantial career opportunities, especially for young people who are learning to speak Chinese fluently.
