VisitChina Sanctions 9 US Firms Over Taiwan Arms Sales, Freezes Assets Starting Wednesday
Sep 18, 2024, 07:59 AM
China's foreign ministry has announced countermeasures against nine U.S. military-linked firms in response to U.S. weapons sales to Taiwan. The measures, starting Wednesday, include freezing the companies' assets within China and prohibiting Chinese organizations and individuals from engaging in transactions with these firms. The sanctions, confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aim to penalize the U.S. defense industry for its involvement in arms sales to Taiwan, which China views as a violation of its sovereignty. The countermeasures also include banning activities of these firms within China.
