VisitChina Sanctions 13 US Defense Firms, Executives Over $385 Million Taiwan Arms Deal
Dec 5, 2024, 11:15 AM
China has imposed sanctions on 13 US military companies and six senior executives in response to recent US arms sales to Taiwan, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday. Effective December 5, the sanctions target firms including Teledyne Brown Engineering, BRINC Drones, Shield AI, and Kratos. This move comes after the US approved an arms deal worth $385 million to supply Taiwan with F-16 fighter jet parts and radars, a transaction Beijing views as a violation of its sovereignty and the One-China principle. The measures, enacted under China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, include asset freezes and restrictions on transactions with the sanctioned entities. China urged the US to recognize the risks associated with supporting Taiwan's independence and to cease military engagements with the island.
