China's largest self-operated offshore oilfield, Suizhong 36-1, has surpassed 100 million tons of accumulated crude oil production on Sunday, becoming the first offshore oilfield in the country to achieve this milestone. The Suizhong 36-1 oilfield, located in the Bohai Bay, has been in operation since 1993. The oilfield boasts a daily production rate of over 8,900 tonnes. This achievement is of great significance in ensuring China's energy security, according to CCTV and the operator, CNOOC.
