VisitChina's Pioneer II Mining Vehicle Completes Record-Breaking Sea Trials

China's deep-sea heavy-duty mining vehicle, Pioneer II, has completed sea trials at depths exceeding 4,000 meters, the Shanghai municipal government announced on Tuesday. The vehicle, also known as Kaituo 2, was independently developed by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It carried out five seabed mining missions continuously, with the deepest reaching a record of 4,102.8 meters. This marks a significant breakthrough in China's deep-sea mining technology, setting six records in the field.
