China's coal output reached a record daily high in November 2024, as reported by multiple sources. The surge in coal production comes amid a 1.9% increase in thermal power generation from January to November, despite the growth of renewable energy sources. In total, power generation by China's major electricity production enterprises amounted to 8.56 trillion kilowatt-hours (kWh) during the first 11 months of 2024, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 5%. The average daily power output in November was reported at 24.98 billion kWh, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
