However, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang has clarified that these joint patrols are not directed against third countries and are not linked to the current international or regional situations. The patrols are part of the annual cooperation plan between the two militaries, aimed at enhancing their strategic partnership and do not target any third party.
