China's Cyberspace Administration is mandating AI companies, including ByteDance, Alibaba ($BABA), Baidu ($BIDU), and others listed on $KWEB, to undergo strict reviews of their AI models to ensure alignment with 'core socialist values'. This initiative includes extensive censorship measures and keyword filtering. Chinese officials are deploying teams to test and ensure that AI functions speak the language of the Communist Party and embody its socialist values. The Financial Times (FT) has reported on this development, describing it as an 'Orwellian' move.
