China Launches Vidu AI, a 16s 1080p Video Model Rival to OpenAI's Sora

China has introduced a new artificial intelligence video generation model named Vidu, developed by Shengshu Technology and Tsinghua University. Released during the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing, Vidu is capable of creating videos up to 16 seconds long with 1080p resolution. This release positions Vidu as a direct competitor to OpenAI's Sora, intensifying the global AI race. While Vidu is praised for its high dynamics and ability to simulate the physical world, it is noted to be slightly less consistent than Sora.
