Researchers in China have demonstrated a groundbreaking development in nuclear energy by showcasing the first commercial-scale passive cooling of a high-temperature nuclear reactor with a pebble bed module. This reactor can cool itself down in an emergency without external power, effectively making it meltdown-proof. The demonstration involved intentionally turning off the cooling system, and the reactor successfully cooled itself down, making disaster impossible and eliminating the risk of a nuclear disaster.
