China has commenced the construction of the Core Array, an extension of its Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST). The Core Array will integrate 24 secondary 40-meter antennas within five kilometers of the FAST site. This development, which started on Wednesday, underscores China's growing potential in global radio astronomy research. The Core Array is expected to be completed and operational by 2027, Xinhua reported.
