China Accuses Foreign Firm, Tesla Emphasizes Compliance

China's Ministry of State Security has accused an unidentified foreign company of illegally conducting geographic surveys in China under the pretense of autonomous driving research. The foreign company outsourced the mapping activities to a licensed Chinese firm. The ministry disclosed on Wednesday that the illegal data collection was part of an intelligent car project collaboration. Companies, including Tesla, have emphasized their compliance with Chinese laws and regulations following the ministry's announcement yesterday.
