VisitChicago Bulls to Retire No. 1 Jersey of Youngest MVP and Chicago Native Derrick Rose in 2025-26
Jan 4, 2025, 05:54 PM
The Chicago Bulls have announced that they will retire Derrick Rose's No. 1 jersey during the 2025-26 NBA season. Rose, a Chicago native, played eight seasons with the Bulls, becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history in 2011. He was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and won Rookie of the Year in his first season. Over 406 games with the Bulls, Rose averaged 19.7 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. He was a three-time All-Star from 2010 to 2012. Rose's jersey retirement will mark him as the fifth Bulls player to receive this honor, joining Jerry Sloan (No. 4), Bob Love (No. 10), Michael Jordan (No. 23), and Scottie Pippen (No. 33). The ceremony will celebrate Rose's impact on the franchise and his deep connection with the city of Chicago.
