VisitChicago Bears Target Notre Dame's 39-Year-Old Marcus Freeman for Head Coach Amid National Championship
Jan 12, 2025, 05:41 PM
The Chicago Bears are looking to interview Marcus Freeman, the 39-year-old head coach of Notre Dame, for their vacant head coaching position, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Freeman, who is currently preparing for the College Football Playoff National Championship game against Ohio State on January 20, has led Notre Dame to a 33-9 record since taking over as head coach, including a 14-1 record this season. The Bears, who fired their previous head coach Matt Eberflus, are actively searching for a new leader as they aim to rebuild the team around their No. 1 overall draft pick, Caleb Williams. Notably, Freeman was drafted by the Bears in 2009, though he never played for them due to a heart condition.
