Freeman, who is currently preparing for the College Football Playoff National Championship game against Ohio State on January 20, has led Notre Dame to a 33-9 record since taking over as head coach, including a 14-1 record this season. The Bears, who fired their previous head coach Matt Eberflus, are actively searching for a new leader as they aim to rebuild the team around their No. 1 overall draft pick, Caleb Williams. Notably, Freeman was drafted by the Bears in 2009, though he never played for them due to a heart condition.
