VisitCFTC Clears Path for Spot Bitcoin ETF Options, OCC to Decide
Nov 16, 2024, 01:31 AM
The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has issued a notice that clears the path for options on spot Bitcoin ETFs to be listed. This development follows the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) approval, marking a significant step towards the introduction of these financial products. According to ETF expert Eric Balchunas of Bloomberg, the final approval now rests with the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC), which is expected to act swiftly. This move is seen as a major advancement in cryptocurrency investment, potentially leading to increased liquidity and investor interest in Bitcoin-related financial instruments. Analysts had previously expected these options to be listed in late Q1 2025, but this timeline has been accelerated.
