VisitCentre Authorizes UPSC to Use Aadhaar for Voluntary Candidate Verification Following Puja Khedkar Case
Aug 29, 2024, 01:56 AM
The Centre has authorized the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to perform Aadhaar-based authentication for verifying candidates' identities on a voluntary basis. This authentication process will be used both at the time of registration and during various stages of examinations and recruitment. The decision follows the recent case involving probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar, whose provisional candidature was canceled, and she was debarred from all future examinations. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued notifications regarding this new measure, marking a first in the UPSC's examination process. The move aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of candidate verification.
