VisitCenter for American Rights Files FCC Complaint Against CBS Over Kamala Harris Interview Editing
Oct 20, 2024, 11:15 PM
CBS News has been accused of significant and intentional news distortion following allegations that its program '60 Minutes' deceptively edited an October 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. The Center for American Rights, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, filed a formal complaint with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), asserting that CBS aired two different answers to the same question during the interview. The complaint seeks to restore public confidence and calls for CBS to release the complete, unedited transcript, which the network has so far refused to do. FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington has flagged the issue for a 'news distortion' probe. CBS News has denied the allegations, stating that claims of deceitful editing are false and explained that different portions of Harris's response were used in various segments of the program.
