VisitCelestia Launches Lemongrass Upgrade, Achieves 57% Data Posted Relative to Ethereum
Sep 18, 2024, 02:40 PM
Celestia has launched its first major mainnet upgrade, Lemongrass, which introduces several significant improvements. The upgrade includes one-click interactions over IBC, interchain accounts, faster cross-chain transfers (CIP-9), anti-spam measures (CIP-6), easier upgrades (CIP-10), and better compatibility with Cosmos (CIP-14). Celestia has achieved a new all-time high of 57% data posted relative to Ethereum, though it generated only $243 or 1% of the fees compared to Ethereum. The network is also roughly five times cheaper to post to than Ethereum and operates at 10% of its current capacity. The Lemongrass upgrade is expected to facilitate a more secure ICA-based approach for liquid staking and is a step towards greater decentralization.
