CDK Global, a major software provider for auto dealers across the U.S., has been hit by a series of cyberattacks, forcing the company to shut down most of its systems. The initial attack occurred on June 19, 2024, and was followed by another attack the next day. These incidents have disrupted operations at approximately 15,000 car dealerships, impacting sales and services nationwide. CDK Global has initiated an investigation with external experts but has not provided an estimated time frame for recovery. The cyberattacks have also affected other entities in the automotive industry, including Findlay Automotive Group and Advance Auto Parts, Inc., which disclosed a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized activity in a third-party cloud database on May 23, 2024.
