VisitCDC Report: 85% of Acute Care Hospital Workers Decline COVID-19 Booster
Nov 3, 2024, 07:22 AM
A recent CDC report reveals a significant disparity in vaccine uptake among healthcare workers in the United States. Among approximately 8.8 million healthcare personnel working in more than 4,000 acute care hospitals, flu vaccine coverage was 80.7%. In contrast, only 15.3% of these workers received the COVID-19 booster for the 2023-2024 season. The situation is similar in nursing homes, where flu vaccine coverage stands at 45.4% among 2.1 million healthcare personnel. Despite efforts from the CDC director and FDA commissioner, 85% of healthcare workers in acute care hospitals have declined the COVID-19 booster, reflecting a broader hesitancy towards the vaccine.
