VisitCDC: 9 Dead, 57 Hospitalized in Boar's Head Listeria Outbreak
Aug 29, 2024, 10:00 AM
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported a significant listeria outbreak linked to Boar's Head deli meats, resulting in nine deaths, including one in New York, and 57 hospitalizations across 18 states. This outbreak, which has led to a massive recall of over 7 million pounds of deli meats, is the largest of its kind in the United States since 2011. Federal inspectors have identified numerous violations at a Boar's Head plant in Virginia, including the presence of mold, mildew, and insects. The USDA has suspended operations at the plant until it can ensure safe production.
