CBI Arrests Sandip Ghosh, Former RG Kar Principal, and Police Officer in Kolkata Doctor's Rape-Murder Case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College, and a Kolkata police officer in connection with the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor. The case has sparked widespread protests among doctors in Kolkata, demanding transparency and justice. Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has accepted the demands of the protestors, agreeing to have minutes of meetings signed by the Chief Secretary. However, a scheduled meeting with the doctors was called off by Chandrima Bhattacharya, leaving many disappointed. The arrest of Sandip Ghosh follows his earlier arrest in a financial irregularities case. Protesting doctors held a press conference under the banner of 'Justice for Abhaya.'
