VisitCATL's Bedrock Chassis Withstands 120 km/h Impact, Offers 1,000 km Range; Avatr to Use First
Dec 26, 2024, 09:00 AM
China's CATL, the world's largest electric vehicle battery maker, has launched a new ultra-safe EV skateboard chassis named Bedrock, designed to enhance safety. The chassis can withstand a 120 km/h frontal impact without catching fire or exploding, setting a new standard for intelligent chassis safety. It is capable of running for about 1,000 km on a single charge and aims to reduce the time required for mass production of a vehicle to 12-18 months from the traditional 36 months or longer. CATL targets premium car makers with this platform, which integrates the battery directly into the chassis, enabling it to absorb 85% of the vehicle's collision energy. Ni Jun, CATL's chief manufacturing officer, emphasized the importance of safety in the design. The first company to use this chassis will be Avatr, a joint venture involving CATL, Changan Auto, and Huawei.
