Jun 9, 2024, 05:33 PM
Carlos Alcaraz has won the French Open, defeating Alexander Zverev in a grueling five-set match with scores of 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2. At 21 years and 35 days old, Alcaraz becomes the youngest player in the Open Era to win major singles titles on all three surfaces—clay, grass, and hard courts. This victory marks his third Grand Slam title, having previously won Wimbledon and the US Open. Alcaraz's achievement also makes him the second youngest player to win his first three Grand Slam finals, following Bjorn Borg. He is now one title away from completing a Career Grand Slam. Alcaraz is the youngest French Open men's champion since 2007.
