VisitCapitals Re-Acquire Stanley Cup Hero Lars Eller from Penguins for Draft Picks
Nov 12, 2024, 11:54 PM
The Washington Capitals have re-acquired forward Lars Eller from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a 2027 third-round draft pick and a 2025 fifth-round pick from Chicago. Eller, 35, previously played for the Capitals from 2016 to 2023 and scored the Stanley Cup-clinching goal in 2018. On March 1, 2023, the Capitals traded Eller to the Colorado Avalanche for a 2025 second-round draft pick, which they later traded to the Calgary Flames for Andrew Mangiapane on June 27. Prior to the current trade, Eller had four goals and three assists with the Penguins this season. "We are excited to welcome Lars back to our organization," said the Capitals' General Manager. "Lars is a versatile player that we are confident will strengthen our team's depth and competitiveness."
