Oct 19, 2024, 05:52 PM
Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward threw four touchdown passes to lead No.6 Miami to a thrilling 52-45 victory over the Louisville Cardinals at L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium on Saturday, improving their record to 7-0. Ward completed 21 of 32 passes for 319 yards without any interceptions, becoming the first quarterback in Miami history with at least 300 passing yards and three touchdowns in each of the first seven games of a season. Wide receivers Sam Brown Jr. and Xavier Restrepo each surpassed 100 receiving yards, contributing significantly to Miami's offensive success. Miami led 24-17 at halftime, but the game remained tight, with the score tied at 31-31 and 38-38 in the second half. Running backs Ajay Allen and Damien Martinez added crucial touchdown runs, including Martinez's 30-yard score late in the fourth quarter. Louisville's freshman running back Isaac Brown, averaging nearly nine yards per carry this season, had a standout performance with a 43-yard touchdown run. Caullin Lacy returned a kickoff 100 yards for a Louisville touchdown, adding to the high-scoring affair. Despite a strong effort from Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough, who connected with receivers Mark Redman, Ja'Corey Brooks, and Duke Watson for touchdowns, the Cardinals fell short. Miami rushed for a total of 219 yards. The victory keeps the Hurricanes undefeated and atop the ACC standings.
