VisitCalifornia Launches Digital Driver's Licenses for Google Wallet
Aug 23, 2024, 04:54 PM
California has become one of the latest states to offer digital driver's licenses and state IDs, allowing residents to store their identification on mobile devices. Governor Gavin Newsom announced that Californians can now add their mobile driver's licenses to Google Wallet, with support for Apple Wallet expected soon. Approximately one million Californians will be able to upload their IDs to smartphone wallets. The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has partnered with SpruceID to power the mobile driver's license platform, which is also accessible via the CA DMV Wallet app. This initiative makes California one of five states to offer such digital identification options.
