VisitCalifornia Governor Signs Executive Order to Expedite Wildfire Rebuilding, Suspending CEQA and Coastal Act
Jan 12, 2025, 03:31 PM
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed an executive order aimed at expediting the rebuilding process for victims of recent wildfires in Southern California. The order suspends permitting and review requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the California Coastal Act, allowing victims to rebuild their homes and businesses more quickly. Newsom's directive also extends price gouging protections on building materials and services until January 7, 2026, in Los Angeles County. The recent wildfires have devastated communities, killing at least 16 people and damaging over 10,000 structures, including homes, businesses, and vehicles.
