Calcutta High Court Orders CBI Probe, Principal to Resign in Kolkata Doctor's Rape-Murder Case

The Calcutta High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The decision comes amid allegations that the case was initially registered as a suicide, and the court has directed the principal to resign immediately. The court has also instructed the Kolkata police to transfer all documents to the CBI by tomorrow morning. This move follows widespread protests from doctors and public outcry over the handling of the investigation. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and other political figures have commented on the case, highlighting its national significance. The Chief Minister of West Bengal has reportedly stated no objection to the transfer of the case to the CBI.
