The Calcutta High Court has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take over the probe into alleged financial irregularities at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital. The investigation, previously handled by a state-constituted Special Investigation Team (SIT), involves Sandip Kumar Ghosh, the former principal of the institution. This decision follows allegations of financial misconduct during Ghosh's tenure, prompting the court to transfer the case to the CBI for a more thorough investigation. Former deputy superintendent Akhtar Ali has been granted permission to request an ED probe into these irregularities.
