VisitByteDance and TSMC to Mass Produce Two AI Chips by 2026
Sep 16, 2024, 01:05 PM
ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, is accelerating its efforts to produce its own AI chips, with the goal of mass production by 2026. The company is collaborating with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to design two semiconductors. ByteDance plans to order several hundred thousand chips by 2026. This initiative aims to reduce ByteDance's dependence on Nvidia for training AI models and is expected to save the company billions of dollars. ByteDance's move is also seen as a strategy to gain a competitive edge in China's AI chatbot market.
