VisitBurger King and Yum! Brands Remove Onions at Some Locations Amid Precautionary Measures
Oct 24, 2024, 08:03 PM
Burger King has removed onions from 5% of its locations following a directive to dispose of whole onions distributed by Taylor Farms' Colorado facility. This precautionary measure, taken without any reported illnesses or contact from health authorities, aligns with similar actions by Yum! Brands. Yum! Brands, which operates Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC, has also removed fresh onions from some of its restaurants out of an abundance of caution. The decision comes in the wake of an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's, although there is no overlap in onion sources between Burger King and McDonald's for most supplies. Burger King spokesperson confirmed that about 5% of restaurants receive onions from the affected facility.
