Oct 22, 2024, 02:57 PM
The city of Buenos Aires has launched a blockchain-based digital identity system for its 3.6 million citizens. The new service, known as QuarkID, uses zero-knowledge proofs (ZK proofs) to protect residents' privacy and manage personal data securely. This initiative makes Buenos Aires the first city to issue decentralized IDs to its citizens. The system has been integrated into the miBA platform and utilizes Era as the settlement layer. The move aims to enhance privacy and control over official state documents for the residents of Buenos Aires. Buenos Aires is moving onchain with the integration of zksync.
