VisitBuccaneers' Chris Godwin Suffers Potential Season-Ending Leg Injury in Final Minute of 41-31 Loss to Ravens
Oct 22, 2024, 03:20 AM
During Monday night's game against the Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin suffered a serious left leg injury late in the fourth quarter. With 43 seconds remaining and the Buccaneers down by 10 points, Godwin was still on the field when he sustained the injury, which is suspected to be a left ankle fracture/dislocation. His leg was placed in an air cast, and he was carted off the field amidst concern from teammates and opponents alike. As he departed, the crowd chanted 'Godwin, Godwin, Godwin'. ESPN declined to show a replay of the incident due to its graphic nature. Godwin's injury followed the earlier departure of fellow wide receiver Mike Evans, leaving the Buccaneers without their two top receivers. Prior to the injury, Godwin led the NFL with 50 receptions and was on pace for a career year. The Buccaneers, who had held a 10–0 lead, ultimately lost the game 41-31 to the Ravens. The severity of Godwin's injury is unknown, but initial reports suggest it could be season-ending.
