VisitBSP Tamil Nadu Chief K. Armstrong Murdered in Sembium on Friday; 8 Suspects Detained

K. Armstrong, the Tamil Nadu Chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), was murdered near his residence in Perambur, Chennai. He was attacked by a gang of six men disguised as food delivery executives, inflicting grievous injuries that led to his death en route to the hospital. The police have detained eight suspects in connection with the murder, including individuals identified as Thirumala, Santosh, Ramu, Arul, Selvaraj, Manivannan, Thiruvengatam, and Balu, the brother of Arcot Suresh who was murdered last year. The police suspect the motive behind the murder is personal revenge. The incident, which occurred in Sembium on Friday, was caught on camera. Armstrong had a criminal record and had once taken on MK Stalin. The incident has sparked widespread criticism of the DMK government's handling of law and order in Tamil Nadu, with political leaders like BJP's Shehzad Poonawalla and Union Minister L Murugan condemning the state administration. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has ordered an expedited investigation and expressed condolences to Armstrong's family. BSP's National President Mayawati has called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice. Actor Vijay and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswamy also expressed their shock and called for preventive measures against such crimes.
