The deal was finalized on October 6, 2024, just days before the Bruins' season opener. Swayman, who hails from Alaska, had been in a contract dispute with the team following a challenging arbitration process. The new contract makes him one of the highest-paid goaltenders in the NHL, comparable to Ilya Sorokin's deal.
