Dec 25, 2024, 06:37 PM
On Christmas Eve, a 28-year-old man, identified as Jason Sargeant from Brooklyn, allegedly carried out a series of knife attacks at the Grand Central subway station in New York City. The first attack occurred around 10:15 p.m. when Sargeant slashed a 42-year-old man's wrist following an argument on a staircase. Shortly after, he attacked a 26-year-old woman, Imani-Ciara Pizarro, slashing her in the neck near a turnstile while she was Facetiming with her neighbor. Both victims were hospitalized and are reported to be in stable condition. Sargeant was apprehended by police at the scene, and a knife was recovered. He faces charges including assault, reckless endangerment, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment, and disorderly conduct. Sargeant has a criminal history with three prior arrests for criminal mischief, fare beating, and assaulting a police officer. Witnesses reported that no one came to the aid of Pizarro during the attack, and she had to seek help from her neighbor via Facetime, who then called 911.
