Canadian para paddler Brianna Hennessy has won a silver medal in the women's va'a single 200m VL2 final at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. This marks Canada's first-ever medal in the sport of Para canoe. Hennessy, a 39-year-old from Ottawa, wore a necklace containing her late mother's ashes during the race. This is Hennessy's first career Paralympic medal. Her victory contributes to Canada's total of 25 medals at the Games. Hennessy has also been named one of the closing ceremony flag bearers.
