VisitBrazil Supreme Court Lifts Ban on Starlink and X Accounts After $3.31 Million Payment by Justice Alexandre de Moraes
Sep 13, 2024, 05:35 PM
Brazil's Supreme Court has lifted the ban on Starlink and X accounts after the companies paid fines totaling 18.35 million reais ($3.31 million). The fines were imposed by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes for failing to remove content as ordered by the court. The amount was transferred to Brazil’s national coffers, leading to the lifting of the blockages on the accounts. Previously, there had been a public dispute between Justice de Moraes and Elon Musk regarding the operations of X in Brazil. On August 30, the court had ordered the complete suspension of X’s operations in the country.
