VisitBrazil's 79-Year-Old President Lula Leaves ICU After Head Surgeries, Posts Video Saying 'Firm and Strong'
Dec 13, 2024, 03:31 PM
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is recovering well after undergoing two procedures to address intracranial bleeding resulting from a fall in October. The 79-year-old leader had an endovascular embolization of the middle meningeal artery at the Hospital Sírio-Libanês in São Paulo. Medical bulletins report that Lula is lucid and oriented, has had his cranial drainage tube removed, and has moved from intensive care to semi-intensive care. He is eating normally and has been walking in the hospital corridors. In a video posted from the hospital, Lula said he is 'firm and strong.' The president is expected to be discharged early next week. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other international leaders have sent their well-wishes for his swift recovery.
