VisitBoeing and NASA Call Off First Crewed Starliner Flight Due to Technical Issue
Jun 1, 2024, 04:49 PM
Boeing called off its first crewed flight of the Starliner spacecraft to the International Space Station just minutes before launch on Saturday. The launch was halted due to a last-minute technical issue, with the ground launch sequencer stopping the countdown 3 minutes and 50 seconds before takeoff. Boeing and NASA have not immediately disclosed the cause of the problem. The mission team anticipates resolving the issue within 24 hours, with potential new launch dates being considered for June 5 or June 6. This marks another delay for the Starliner program, which has faced previous postponements, including a canceled launch on May 6 due to a malfunction. The astronauts were inside the Starliner capsule at the time of the halt. Starliner was created by Boeing under contract with NASA.
