VisitBoeing Investigates Quality Issue on Undelivered 787 Dreamliners Involving Incorrect Installation of 900 Fasteners
Jun 13, 2024, 03:03 PM
Boeing is investigating a new quality issue with its undelivered 787 Dreamliner jets, involving the incorrect installation and torquing of more than 900 'side-of-body fasteners' per plane. The company confirmed that it is conducting safety checks on the affected aircraft, but assured that the in-service fleet can continue to operate safely. Boeing is working closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on this matter, and despite the quality issue, deliveries of the 787 Dreamliners have not been paused, with the latest delivery occurring on Tuesday. The issue was discovered on a section of the carbon-composite aircraft.
