VisitBobby Finke Sets World Record with 14:30.67, Wins Second Consecutive Gold in Men's 1500m Freestyle at 2024 Olympics
Aug 4, 2024, 05:01 PM
Bobby Finke set a new world record in the men's 1500m freestyle at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Finke's time of 14:30.67 broke the previous 12-year-old record held by Sun Yang since 2012. This achievement earned Finke his second consecutive Olympic gold medal in the event. His victory also marked the first and only individual gold medal for a U.S. male swimmer at these Games. Gregorio Paltrinieri of Italy won the silver medal with a time of 14:34.55, while Daniel Wiffen of Ireland won the bronze medal in the same event.
